The Power of a Hug
Hugs... They’re like oxygen for the soul. Research shows a proper deep hug, where the hearts are pressing together, can really benefit us! It’s said we need four hugs a day for survival, eight hugs a day for maintenance, and twelve hugs a day for growth. Wow!! That's a LOT of hugging! They really do possess super powers! They build a sense of safety, they heal feelings of isolation and a whole other bag of benefits.

-Deepens and enriches relational bonds
-Increases our feelings of happiness and contentment
-Relieves stress and soothes pain
-Strengthens and bolsters the immune system
Apparently, the secret to releasing these incredible effects lies in two requirements. One is that the hugs must be chest -to-chest, thus connecting the hearts. Secondly, the hugs should be at least 15-20 seconds long.
Hugging can be a natural form of affectionate communication to some of us, while others of us need to work on the practice as an acquired skill, depending on our family practices.
But either way, it's great to think about the hidden super-power of a simple hug.
There is a hidden benefit found in the process of creating. Stress is replaced with peace.
