Above, is another little piece from my '100 Day Project' illuminating thoughts and quotes from the work of Brene Brown. This particular one depicts Brown's view of the importance of her faith,
“Faith is a place of mystery, where we find the courage to believe in what we cannot see and the strength to let go of our fear of uncertainty.”
This is taken from her book, The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are
In further readings, she personally elaborates, saying that her faith 'grounds her, and gives meaning to her world.' That statement resonated deeply with me. Being grounded is an essential skill for sensitive souls. It's those of us who are highly sensitive that knows its imperative. We are the ones who pick up emotions from the people and environment around us.
Being grounded means being present in our body and connected with our place in the earth and allows us to feel centered and balanced no matter what's going on around us.
If we aren't grounded, we're like a leaf in the wind: fragile, vulnerable and thrown off balance very quickly. But when we are well grounded, we are like a stable, well-rooted tree. If something happens around us, it doesn't influence us so much and we are able to feel much more peaceful and balanced in our daily life.
There are so many ways for us to become grounded. Any physical activity (sports, walking, dancing, gardening, etc.) will automatically ground us, as does prayer or meditation. But I identified with Brown in her simple declaration that her faith was what gave her an over arching sense of being grounded.
Welcome! Glad you're here! This little spot is where I share thoughts, writings and verses that fuel my life, my marriage, and my art. My desire is to offer up hope and grace and help make your life feel a bit lighter.
